Is Santa Claus based upon the old siberian shamans?

He looks and dresses just like one, they used to ride around on sleds pulled by reindeer, and collect magic mushrooms and hang them in the pine (christmas trees) to dry, then they'd give all the local villagers hallucinogenic mushrooms for Christmas. Is Santa really just papa smurf?
