In bowling, do you throw your spare ball only for spares on the right side of the head pin and not the left?

im a right handed bowler and just got my new spare ball today. i am really used to the hook of my black widow venom ball and am already struggling with the plastic ball. i seemed to be picking up the pins on the right side of the head pin ok but i was really struggling with the left side. and also where do you need to stand for your spares now. for the 7 and 10 pins i usually stand as far right or left as i can without going off the lane. i need some tips.
