What are some good music colleges...?

that aren't restricted to clical music or a career in an orchestra? I do take orchestra as a cl in school, but I think my pion is more in modern day music. I play the piano, cello, and guitar, and have a pretty average grade, but not like straight A's or anything like that. I plan to be a performer, possibly start a band or music group with other musicians I meet at this college. Any suggestions on where I should apply? And what things can I do to help my chances of being accepted besides grades?
