Plain and simple, he likes you and is scared to tell you. He teases you because he doesn't know how else to approach you. He goes to your best friend because that person knows you best. He thinks that he can find out more about you through this person. Basically, figure out if you like him and what you want to happen. Then approach him, and be completely up front with him.
