85 ford ranger pvc valve?

i have a 4 cyl ford ranger carb 2.0 and sometimes it runs fine and sometimes it runs sluggish weak and it boggs i changed also anything i can think of...spark plug wires cap air filter fuel filter....i was thinking to change the pvc valve...can that cause the problem? i also want to change my fuel pump
