Trouble beating a magic deck?

friends recently got me into magic and i;m having trouble finding a good deck. my main problem is i cant beat one of them. hes using a mostly white deck. he is using a combination of (sorry dont have alot of cards memorized yet) mother of runes, pariah, and some creature that lets him redirect any damage. i was using a burn deck and couldnt figure out a way to modify to work because he puts pariah on mother of runes redirects all damage to her and taps to make her immune to red. any tips on how to beat this decks or any ttips in general? we are casual players and proxy a lot of cards so rarity or legality of cards is not a problem (power 9 are banned). im always looking for new decks since burn is all i have really used.
