Can I leave a blanket in my new outdoor bunnies cage?

I just go a new bunny and i live in the northeast part of the usa and she doesnt have a hutch yet cause we are still in the process of making one do you know if its okay if i leave and old rag towel or old blanket we dont use in there or is it unsafe?
